After ringing in 2016 with a New Year’s Eve concert in Tacoma, Washington, founding Guess Who frontman Burton Cummings is set to launch a brief series of solo U.S. shows this week. The singer/keyboardist, who turned 68 on December 31, will kick things off with a three-night stand this Thursday, Saturday and Sunday at the Orleans Hotel & Casino in Las Vegas.
Cummings’ run of stateside concerts winds down on January 26 in Palm Desert, California, and he also has a March 4 performance lined up in Windsor, Ontario, in his home country of Canada.
In other news, Burton recently posted a Facebook video message for fans in which he reveals that he will be publishing his first book of poetry soon, and also will be starting to work on a new solo album this year. In the video, the singer also thanks fans for following him on his social media outlets and showing continued interest in his music and other endeavors.
Meanwhile, Burton also has joined the throngs of music stars paying tribute to rock legend David Bowie, who died of cancer Sunday at the age of 69. On his Facebook page, Cummings writes, “Changed the landscape of pop music…one of a kind, multi gifted individual…left us ‘golden years’ of music…R.I.P.”
