Raney BenefitDate: Sunday, November 6, 2011
72380 560th Avenue
The Meridian Public School Student Council, Alexandria Volunteer Fire Department and Meridian Class of 2006 are banding together to sponsor a benefit for 2006 Meridian High School graduate Dana Raney of Alexandria, who has been diagnosed with ALS, commonly known as Lou Gehrig’s Disease.
All proceeds from the event, which includes plenty of food and fun activities, will assist in defraying Raney’s medical costs. A free-will offering will be received. Supplemental funds will be provided by Homestead Chapter of Thrivent.
A lunch, silent and live auctions will highlight the Nov. 6 event, which is being held at the school, 72380 560th Avenue in rural Daykin (2 miles west of Daykin on Nebraska Highway 4). A booth from ALS In The Heartland will also be on display.
Raney graduated from Wayne State 2009 with a degree in human services counseling and was employed at Home Instead Senior Care, Lincoln; and Community Action, Lincoln.
An active member of Girl Scouts for many years, Dana attends St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Alexandria. She is the daughter of David and Linda Raney of Alexandria.
The beef and pork lunch and silent auction run from 11:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Nov. 6, followed by the live auction at 2 p.m.
Two Nebraska football tickets will be given away. Numerous items are already on the auction slate, but organizers welcome additional donations for both auctions. Contact Brittany Dux, (402) 212-5711 for information on donating.
Those unable to attend the benefit can also contribute to the Dana Raney Benefit Fund at Jefferson County Bank, 306 Jefferson Street, Daykin, Neb. 68338.
Additional information on the event is available from Dux, (402) 212-5711.
