Household Hazardous Waste Collections to Include 9 Cities
In Southeast Nebraska
Do you need to get rid of those old cleansers under your sink or that left over paint cluttering up your shelves? How about those florescent light bulbs taking up space in your garage?
Well then, gather up all your household hazardous waste materials and bring them to one of the nine collection sites in Southeast Nebraska October 1st -4th.
The process is easy! You don’t even have to get out of the car! Let one of the Five Rivers RC&D staff and volunteers dispose of it for you!
The events will start in Syracuse at the County Shop North of HWY 2 on HWY 50 on October 1st from 1:00 pm to 3:30 pm.
Next stop on the 1st will be in Nebraska City at the County Shop, Hwy 2 Beltway and will run from 5:00 pm – 7:00 pm.
Five Rivers RC&D will begin the next collection on October 2nd at 8:00 am in Auburn Behind City Hall, 1101 J St. The event will run from 8 am until 11:00 am.
And don’t worry, if you can’t make that one, Five Rivers will be in Falls City from 1:00 pm to 3:00 pm on the 2nd too! The household hazardous waste materials will be collected at the City parking lot by Prichard Auditorium.
Five Rivers RC&D will end collections for the 2nd in Humboldt, with collections taking place from 4:00 to 6:00 pm at the County Shop, which is located at 305 So. Nemaha.
Did you miss an event the first two days? No worries! Five Rivers will be in Pawnee County in Pawnee City on October 3rd from 8:00 am to 10:00 am. Household hazardous waste drop offs will be collected at the County shop, north 342 5th St.
The next stop on October 3rd will be in Tecumseh from 11:30 am - 1:30 pm. The drop off site is located at the County Shop, 813 N 1st Street.
The last stop for the 3rd will be in Fairbury at the County shop, located at 1415 A Street. Collection times are from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm.
The Final collection site for the Five Rivers RC&D Household Hazardous Waste Collections Event will be in Crete on October 4th from 9:00 am to 11:30 am at 1st & Hawthorne at the First Street Community Center.
Items which will be accepted include old paint, pesticides, antifreeze, herbicides, cleaning chemicals, fluorescent light bulbs, yard and garden chemicals. Other items not accepted include tires, electronic equipment, appliances, PCBs, Picric Acid, Science Lab materials, radioactive materials or biological hazards.
There is no charge and only household quantities will be accepted. Financing was provided through the Nebraska Department of Environmental Quality.
