The Brownville Fine Arts Association is sponsoring the 2014 Brownville Sketchbook Workshop taught by Artist/Architect Robert Hanna on Saturday & Sunday, October 12th &13th, at the Schoolhouse Art Gallery & Nature Center at 427 Main St. in Brownville. The workshop is a fast moving class for both the amateur and professional artist offering discussion and demonstrations of the uses, methods, and values of sketching and watercolor painting. The workshop will be held from 9:00am to 4:00pm both indoors and outdoors with a break for lunch. Please call 402-825-4371 for registration and details. The fee is $30.00.
Robert Hanna is the author of Sketches of Nebraska and A Nebraska Portfolio, where he focuses his attention and his brush on the buildings that go unnoticed, the roadside diner, the gas stations, the grain elevators, the train stations, the simple neighborhood bungalow. “These are the structures about which I played as a boy, and about which I stroll in my imagination today.” He has also paired his illustrations with the poems of US Poet Laureate Ted Kooser in Valentines, which is currently in its third printing. Robert has won many awards for his art and is a member of the Midwest Transparent Watercolor Society and the American Watercolor Society.
Mr. Hana was born above a tavern in Ewing, Nebraska in 1939, spent his childhood in Grand Island and studied Architecture at the University of Nebraska. As a registered Architect in Nebraska, he maintained a private practice and taught at the University of Nebraska. Robert was awarded the Nebraska Honor Award and the Central States Regional Honor Award for design excellence in Architecture.
This workshop is part of a long weekend of activities included in Paint Brownville Autumn and Old Time Autumn Celebrations, October 10-13th.
