Breakfast and lunch prices in the Beatrice Public Schools will go up a dime, this coming school year.  That was one of several actions taken by the Beatrice Board of Education, Monday night.

Breakfast for students will increase from $1.75, to $1.85…..for adults, from $1.95 to $2.05.  Lunch at the elementary grades for students will go from $2.50 to $2.60….for grades 6-to-12 and parochial students, the charge increases from $2.50 to $2.70.  Adult lunch price will move from $3.20 to $3.30.

District Business Manager John Brazell says the new prices will more closely match the level of federal reimbursement from the USDA, through a price calculator.

Students living inside a nine-block radius from their school, can pay to ride the bus.

The Beatrice School Board also approved an increase in the per-day rate for substitute teachers, from $114, to $118.  Brazell says that recommendation was made after comparing what other districts are paying.

Handbooks for certified and classified staff and for substitute teachers have been approved by the board.

The district will have a new dairy supplier.  Prairieland Dairy won the bid for the service this coming year… of two bids submitted.

The district 15 board also approved a bread bid from Rotella’s Italian Bakery……the same company that provided the service to the district the past year.
