Marjorie Rist, 88 years of age, of Beatrice, NE. passed away at the Beatrice Community Hospital Tuesday afternoon, July 26, 2011. She was born on June 18, 1923 in Lincoln to Oscar and Hazel (Hardin) Martin. Marjorie was a graduate of St. Mary's Hall Episcopal Girls High School in Faribault, MN. and received her B.A. degree at the University of Nebraska in Lincoln in 1945. She and William Rist were married on September 16, 1945 at her parent's home in Lincoln. They have lived in Beatrice since 1948, moving here from Ann Arbor, Michigan. Marjorie was a member of the Centenary United Methodist Church, taught Sunday School, member of the women's circle, the 29'ers Group and the Centenarians Group at the church; member and past president to the PEO, Chapter Z; Fortnightly; past long time treasurer and volunteer for Meals on Wheels; and a founding member and volunteer of the Bargain Box in Beatrice. She enjoyed reading, needlepoint, and spending time at the lake in Minnesota.

Survivors include her husband Judge William Rist; 2 daughters, Kathryn E. Rist of Omaha and Martha E. Kadue and husband David of Los Angeles; 2 grand daughters, Sarah Burford and Katie Kadue; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents Oscar and Hazel (Hardin) Martin; and 3 brothers.

Memorial services will be held at 10:00 A.M. Saturday, July 30, 2011 at the Centenary United Methodist Church in Beatrice with Reverend Charles Spence officiating. Private family interment will be at the Evergreen Home Cemetery in Beatrice. The body will lie in state from 9-9:00 Friday at the Griffiths-Hovendick Chapel in Beatrice and not at the church. A memorial has been established to the PEO Home and Meals on Wheels with the Griffiths-Hovendick Chapel in charge. Leave online messages of sympathy at www.griffithshovendick.com.
