Paul Harland Polage of Hebron, NE the son of Edward C. and Elizabeth C. (Daub) Polage was born June 17, 1919 at Belvidere, NE. He departed this life Saturday June 18 at Thayer County Health Services in Hebron, NE at the age of 92 years and one day.

Paul was baptized August 22, 1920 by C. Bartels at Trinity Lutheran Church in Bruning, NE. He attended school District # 99 of rural Belvidere and graduated from Belvidere High School with the class of 1938.

After graduation Paul lived in Lincoln, NE for about a year, then moving to Los Angles, CA working in restaurants, Vande Kampe and McDonalds for two years. He then moved to Wichita, KS working at Allis Hotel and Boeing Aircraft.

He entered the United States Coast Guard January 28, 1942, boot camp in Brooklyn, NY attending Motor Machinist's Mate School at Groton, CT. He served two years aboard the U.S.S. Everett in the Aleutian Islands, he then served in St. Louis on the Mississippi River. He was discharged April 23, 1946 as Fireman First Class, returning to Belvidere to take over the farming operations from his father.

On August 20, 1947 Paul was united in marriage to Phyllis Irene (Payne) Naiman in Beatrice, NE.

Paul and Phyllis lived on the farm at Belvidere, NE where Paul was engaged in farming, driving trucks, and working at several businesses in Hebron. In 1963, they moved to Hebron where they purchased the Ready Mix Concrete Plant where he became a prominent business man until 1984.

Paul enjoyed hunting, fishing and his many hobbies of collecting stamps, coins, guns, toys, spoons, and collectables of all kinds. Paul loved to get dressed up and go to dances.

He is preceded in death by his parents, his wife Phyllis May 31, 1985, one step-daughter Judy Jasperson and husband Roger and one granddaughter Lorrie Schmitz.

He is survived by step-grandchildren Patty Jasperson and Deb Bohling and husband Greg both of Deshler, NE, Great-grandchildren Dylan Jasperson, Tabitha Bohling and fiance Chris Foutch and Hayden Bohling, great-great-grandchildren; Desiree and Matthew Jasperson and Spencer Foutch, special friend Shirlee Spence, one brother Roy Polage of Raton, New Mexico and a host of friends.

Memorial services will be Wednesday June 22, 2011 at Hebron Memorial Funeral Home Chapel in Hebron, NE at 10 am. Officiant will be pastor Keith Brozek, soloist Katherine White singing “Amazing Grace” cremation no visitation, inurnment in Rose Hill Cemetery in Hebron, NE Military graveside service by Hebron American Legion Saxton Post 180.
