Shawn J. “Shoes” McPheron, 52 years of age, of Beatrice, formerly of Wymore passed away at the Bryan/LGH West Hospital in Lincoln Sunday afternoon, July 10, 2011. He was born on March 17, 1959 in Beatrice to Ted and Bess (Peterson) McPheron and was a 1977 graduate of Wymore Southern High School. He and Diane Borgman were married on February 14, 2009 in Marysville, Kansas. Shawn served on the Bridge Construction Crew for the Burlington Northern Railroad for nearly 30 years, and lived in the Wymore/Beatrice area most of his life. He was a former member of the Wymore Methodist Church and was a member of the Sons of the American Legion. Shawn enjoyed fishing, hunting, making people laugh, doing cross word puzzles, attending 4th of July activities, and listening to old Country Western songs. He was an avid Husker fan, and was proud of his red Corvette.
Survivors include his wife Diane; sister Lori Robinson and husband Greg and their children Brock, Nolan, and Carson of Filley; Step children and grandchildren Shannon Burgess and husband David and daughter Gabby of Kansas City, MO., Shane Saathoff and wife Jen and children Sydney, Trevin and C.J., Seth Saathoff and wife Erin and children Shelby and Evan, all of Wymore, Stephanie Saathoff and Chris Belding and children Colton, Calee and Charleigh of Beatrice, and Whitney Wathor of Lincoln; mother in law Lois Bernadt of Wymore; aunts, uncles and cousins; and very special friends Steve and Shelly Crosier and children Kaitlin and Karlee. He was preceded in death by his parents Ted and Bess (Peterson) McPheron,
A memorial has been established to the family’s choice with the Laughlin-Hoevet Funeral Home in charge.
There will be no public viewing, but a register book will be available for signatures from 2-8:00 Wednesday at the Laughlin-Hoevet Funeral Home with the family greeting friends from 7-8:00.
Memorial services will be held at 2:00 P.M. Thursday, July 14, 2011 at the Laughlin-Hoevet Funeral Home in Wymore with Pastor Clayton Lundstedt officiating. The family requests casual dress for the memorial service with Husker apparel being very appropriate. A family prayer service will be held at 8:15 P.M. Wednesday at the Laughlin-Hoevet Funeral Home.
