Bruce T. Sedlacek, age 58 years, of Virginia died Thursday, June 9, 2011 as the result of a tractor accident on his farm. He was born August 28, 1952 at Beatrice and spent his childhood on a farm in the Mission Creek area. He was a 1970 graduate of Barneston High School and received his air conditioning certification from Southeast Community College in Milford. He married Norma Boeding on Sept. 2, 1972 at the Mission Creek Presbyterian Church, and they have spent their entire married life in the Virginia area. Bruce was employed at Household Supply, for Hoover Materials Handling Group in quality control, owned a bar in Liberty, was employed as a stationary engineer at the Tecumseh State Correctional Institution, and was in the transportation division of the Beatrice State Developmental Center. He was a member of the Mission Creek Presbyterian Church. His hobbies included gardening, guns, hunting, fishing, raising different types of animals, improving his land, and respecting nature. He also enjoyed wood working and wine making.

Bruce is survived by his wife, Norma; by his daughter, Chelsea of the home; by three brothers, Gale Sedlacek and his wife Gail; Dennis Sedlacek of Barneston; and Lowell Sedlacek and his wife Nancy of Beatrice; by his mother-in-law, Nora Boeding of Lewiston; by a sister-in-law, Doris Thornburg and her husband Keith of Beatrice; and by nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Glen A. and Elinor M. (Cullison) Sedlacek; by his father-in-law, A. J. Boeding; and by his sister-in-law, Esther Hoffman and her husband Larry; and by his nephew, Christopher Sedlacek.

Memorial to the family’s choice with the funeral home in charge.

Burial will be at the Liberty Cemetery.

The body will lie in state at the Laughlin-Hoevet Funeral Home, 505 N. Ninth Street, Wymore from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Monday with his family receiving friends from 7 p.m. to 8 p.m., and at the church one hour preceding the service.

Funeral service will be at 10 A.M. Tuesday, June 14, 2011 at the Wymore United Presbyterian Church, 12th & L Streets, the Rev. James McNeal officiating.
