Lorna Lee (Chartier) Zenger, 96, passed from this life June 14, 2011. She was born July 7, 1914 in Ames, Kansas to Ruth (Tuckerman) and Levi Cyr. She was preceded in death by her husband Clayton Chartier in 1954 and her husband Wendell Zenger in 2002. Also preceding her in death was her father, Levi Cyr in 1949, mother Ruth Cyr in 1984, brothers Bryon Cyr in 2006, Creighton Cyr in 1998, and Dayton Cyr in 1976; sisters include Merna Chartier in 1984, Opal Watkins in 1945, and Joyce Thomann in 2006.

Survivors include her son, James Chartier and wife Carolyn of Haddam, Ks., daughter Valinda (Chartier) Novak and husband Don of Overland Park, Ks., sister Nola Cochran of Reseda, Ca., three grandchildren Courtney Riley and husband Mike of Hiawatha, Ks., Adam Novak of Lakeland, Fl., Brady Novak Los Angles, Ca., two great granddaughters Ashlyn and Reagan Riley of Hiawatha, Ks. and numerous nieces and nephews. Lorna was the third oldest of a family of 8. She was a mother, wife, homemaker, active church member and served on the board of the United Methodist Church in Haddam, Ks. for many years and was Home Demonstration Unit (HDU) member for over 50 years. She and husband, Wendell was among the first Americans who traveled with other farm couples to China on an agricultural tour after China first opened their doors to tourism. Lorna had a beautiful spirit; always giving, always loving!
